The 15th Annual Morning Glory Brunch of St. Madeleine Sophie’s Center, serving adults with developmental disabilities was held on April 13, 2013 on the beautiful grounds of the Center. Director Barbara Menard had an opportunity to explore the growth of the facility and see all the changes. The garden’s new Hinman Plaza & Pavilion and the pool’s new Dome are the most recent examples of the support of individuals and organizations like the Menard Family Foundation. The day included food, wine and beer tasting, boutique shopping, garden and art demonstrations, silent and live auctions, and live entertainment on several stages. One of the highlights was a cooking demonstration by Maître Cuisiniers de France and Award-winning Chef Bernard Guillas who insists, “a good cook is a sorcerer who dispenses happiness on a plate. He and co-author Rom Oliver self-published their first cookbook, Flying Pans, that was awarded top ten cookbook in America at Book Expo America in 2010. The eighth annual Frog Race, an event not to be missed, capped the afternoon festivities.
