Benefiting the Campaign for Cancer Care at Scripps Mercy Hospital, the 45th Annual Mercy Ball was held at the San Diego Marriott Marquis & Marina with over six hundred people in attendance. The Menard Family Foundation was a Supporting Sponsor and MFF Board of Directors members Marlene Miller, Catherine Chafey Scanlon and Barbara Menard and their spouses/partners shared a table with friends: Mark Zangrando, Vice President for Mission at Scripps Mercy; Msgr. Mark Campbell, Mercy Hospital Foundation Board Member; and Rev. Gil Gentile, SJ. The evening included: a Cocktail Reception; Welcome by Mercy Ball Co-chairs Julie and Robert Mayer and Devon and Jim Frager; Dinner with Duo Entrées and Duo Desserts; and a moving program with personal testamonials by cancer survivors including Mercy Hospital Board chair Bill Bacon. There was spirited bidding for the seven live auction packages followed by dancing to the music of The Mighty Untouchables.
This year’s event proceeds will benefit the Campaign for Cancer Care at Scripps Mercy Hospital in support of a new state-of-the-art Cancer Center. The interior space will be designed to ipact wellness and comfort in all dimensions – mind, body and spirit. The cancer care program will integrate high-tech services with high-touch care delivering a multidisciplinary care model including palliative care, integrative medicine, genetic counseling, a graduate medical education and research programs.
