On Thursday, November 8, 2018 Catholic Charities held its annual Matthew 25 Celebration, “A Celebration of Faith in Action.” Catholic Charities Diocese of San Diego exists to exemplify the scriptural values of mercy and justice by Witnessing the Gospel message contained in Matthew 25: to advocate for a just society by Calling individuals and institutions to action on behalf of the poor, the vulnerable and the marginalized; and to acknowledge the sacredness of the human person by Accompanying those who are served on their journey toward achieving their full potential as persons created in the image and likeness of God.
Director Barbara Menard wore two hats that evening as an employee and member of the Agency Leadership Council who greeted guests at the opening Eucharist in Founders Chapel at the University of San Diego. Then she represented the Menard Family Foundation sitting at the Scripps table at the dinner in University Center. There were twenty-three awardees including students from Academy of Our Lady of Peace, Cathedral Catholic High School, Mater Dei High School, St. Augustine High School and the University of San Diego.
