Over 200 supporters and friends of Ignatian Volunteer Corps San Diego including members of Menard Family Foundation gathered for the Evening of Gratitude on Sunday, March 26, 2023, at St. Catherine Labouré parish. Beginning with the Celebration of the Eucharist, the evening was followed by a reception, dinner provided by Chef Michel and The French Gourmet, and award presentations. The Sheila O’Malley Vision and Dedication Award was presented to longtime IVC volunteer Lucy Howell by Dr. Tim O’Malley with introduction by Sr. Anne Durst, SHCJ. The Madonna Della Strada Award was presented to Rev. Greg Boyle, SJ, founder of Homeboy Industries with an introduction by Rev. Scott Santarosa, SJ. Fr. Greg shared reflections on his work with homeboys and homegirls in Los Angeles. Each participant received a copy of his latest book The Whole Language: The Power of Extravagant Tenderness.
