The Workshop for the new Jesuits West Province was held at Loyola Marymount University from Thursday, August 10 through Friday, August 11, 2017. This gathering of 250 people convened by Jesuit West Provincial Fr. Scott Santarosa, SJ and his staff brought together Jesuit superiors, directors and representatives of the various works in the Jesuit West Province along with the conveners, and facilitators. The San Diego Region included conveners Barbara J. Menard representing Ignatian Volunteer Corps San Diego and Fr. Bill Ameche, Conveners of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church and Casa Kino, Fr. John Auther, SJ, Pastor of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church and Our Lady’s School and Vivian Toscano Assistant for Family Ministry at the OL Guadalupe parish, and Boom Martinez, SJ one of two chaplains at the Newman Center at UC San Diego. The meeting provided an opportunity to discuss and discern about issues and challenges facing each of the eleven regions in the Jesuit West Province along with discussions among those working in sectors including: higher education, middle/elementary education, parishes, spirituality, and social ministry.
