KPBS, San Diego’s public radio and television station, held the second Downton Abbey themed Gala at the U.S. Grant Hotel on Saturday, January 11, 2014.  The Honorary Chair for the evening was Darlene Marcos Shiley and the Gala Chair was Kimberly Heller.  The KPBS Hall of Fame serves to honor the extraordinary individuals and families who contribute to KPBS’ success and provide inspiration for future generations.  This year’s inductees were Dr. Stephen and Susan Weber and Stephanie Bergsma.  Dr. Weber served as President of SDSU and played an important role in KPBS’ success and growth.   Stephanie Bergsma had a thirty year career in development at KPBS.  The evening included guest appearances by Downton Abbey actors:  Lesley Nicol, who plays the head cook with the touch exterior and sharp tongue, but with a sentimental side, Mrs. Patmore; and Laura Carmichael, known as Lady Edith, the middle of the Crawley sisters.  Also present for the evening were actors from a theater company who portrayed Mrs. Hughes, Carter, the butler, and the maids and footmen.  “Lady Barbara” and her escort, “Lord James” were also in attendance.
