Director Barbara J. Menard represented the Menard Family Foundation at the 2013 Lo Maximo Awards Dinner for Homeboy Industries held at the S.W. Marriott Hotel at L.A. Live in Los Angeles, CA. Homeboy Industries is celebrating twenty-five years of standing with formerly gang-involved and previously incarcerated men and women, offering jobs, treatment and, above all, hope. The support they have received has enabled them to help thousands of men and women to redirect their lives and become contributing members of the community. The 2013 Lo Maximo Honorees are: “Miss June” Kizu, who has made a tireless commitment to the education of trainees and the encouragement to engaged them in telling their stories; Angelica Huston & Martin Sheen who have given many years of friendship and support to Lo Maximo as Masters of Ceremony and have generously served Homeboy Industries; and Richard Cabral for his dedication to personal transformation and his courage in moving from Homeboy Bakery to an acting career while continuing to provide mentoring and hope for other trainees.
