Held at the JW Marriott Hotel at L.A. Live, the 2015 LoMáximo Awards benefit Homeboys Industries begun by Rev. Greg Boyle, S.J.  Director Barbara Menard and Mr. Jim Ogilvie attended this event.  Homeboy Industries provides hope, training, and support to former gang-involved and previously incarcerated men and women, allowing them to redirect their lives and become contributing members of their community.  This year’s honorees were White Memorial Medical Center and its Emergency Department Director, Dr. Brian Johnston and Juan Carlos Marquez.  For decades White Hospital and their doctors have unflaggingly supported Homeboy Industries and helped Los Angeles to re-imagine the way it responds to victims of gang violence, as people to be healed rather than problems to be solved.  Through his construction and janitorial businesses, Juan Carlos Marquez has helped dozens of Homeboy trainees to integrate into the community by giving them employment that has led to full-time careers.
