Director Barbara Menard attended the 41st Annual National Association of Perinatal Social Workers Conference in Portland, OR. General Session covered topics from: Living with HIV for 25 years; The Role of Fathers and their experience in the NICU; Inter Hospital System collaboration in treating substance abuse in pregnant women and Issues for Transgender Patients. There were excellent speakers for the sessions throughout the days. Attendees were able to sign up for The Evening Out prepared by the conference committee, PDX 101 at Lagunitas Brewing Company’s brand new community space. Attendees dined on food from some of Portland’s famous food trucks, enjoyed wine and beer from local breweries, and danced to live music. There was also a silent auction with the proceeds going toward the award money for the NAPSW Innovative Program Award. Perinatal Social Workers will gather for the 42nd Conference May 2-5, 2018 to “Shine The Light on Perinatal Social Work” in Long Beach, California.
