The student sponsored by the Menard Family Foundation, Ignacio, was among the twenty eighth grade young men and women who graduated from Nativity Prep Academy San Diego on Friday, June 17, 2016. The ceremony began with a music processional as the students, faculty, volunteers, and board of directors filed into Holy Spirit Church. President Brendan Sullivan offered a Welcome that was followed by the Invocation/Opening Prayer led by Fr. Gilbert Gentile, SJ. The renowned Guest Speaker was distance runner Meb Keflezighi, Silver Medalist in the 2004 Athens Olympics, US Marathon Team member for the 2016 Rio Olympics. After his personal witness to the importance of hard work and determination, Honorary Diplomas were awarded for Service to the school community. Two students who exemplify the spirit of St. Ignatius were awarded full scholarships for high school. Each of the graduates shared reflections on their years at Nativity Prep and their future goals. The Diplomas were conferred by Xochitl Alvarez, Director of Graduate Support. Deacon Mike Daniels, Chaplain, Trustee of Nativity Prep Academy offered a closing prayer and Convocation. A lovely reception was prepared by Nativity parents on the patio for the graduates, their families, and friends. Director Barbara Menard received the thanks of Ignacio after the graduation.
