On September 7, 2019 friends and supporters of Rise Up Industries gathered for an evening with Fr. Greg Boyle, SJ, founder of Homeboy Industries and author of Tattoos on the Heart and Barking to the Choir. Menard Family Foundation Trustee/Director Barbara J. Menard and her husband Jim Ogilvie joined this assembled group to hear Fr. Greg and to listen to the person stories of several of the men who have graduated from the Rise Up Industries program. With a Mission Statement: “To minimize gang involvement by providing integrated gang prevention, gang intervention, and post-detention re-entry services” Rise Up Industries is a member of the Global Homeboy Network. They are in their seventh year of operation and have provided post-detention services that have successfully reintegrated men into the community. The Rise Up Industries Chess Set is a unique work of art where each chess piece replicates tooling found in a modern-day machine shop. Each guest received a chess piece that was designed by a member of the re-entry program and produced their machine shop by members in the program.
