Despite a few computer glitches, the Scripps Mercy Team hosted a “Topping Off” celebration on
Thursday, July 16, 2020. In preparation for this occasion, a gift package was delivered to the home of
the invitees that included a bottle of sparkling wine, wine glasses, and a charcuterie tray. The video
presentation included an update by Vice President for Scripps South, Tom Gammiere, and a view of the
raising of the top steel girder for the new Prebys Cancer Center. Members of the Scripps Mercy Hospital
Advisory Team, Foundation staff and donors are looking forward to the opening of the Center which is
on schedule for a Fall 2021 opening.
