The Board of Trustees of the San Diego Zoo Global hosted the Circle of Friends and Heritage Guild luncheon on Thursday, August 15, 2013 at the Sheridan San Diego Hotel and Marina. Director Barbara Menard was in attendance. The program included a tribute to Betty White who was presented the 2013 Conservation Advocate Medal by Joan Embery, a previous Conservation Ambassador. Ms. White sat and discussed her life and love of animals with President/CEO Doug Myers. Betty White has been an advocate for wildlife including animal health, welfare and conservation, as well as a pet enthusiast. For the past forty years she has worked tirelessly on behalf of animal welfare while also becoming known as a conservation champion.
