Barbara J. Menard, Jim Ogilvie and other members of the Zoo President’s Associates gathered on Thursday, March 23rd for cocktails, light hors d’oeuvres, and a special presentation at the San Diego Zoo. President/CEO, San Diego Zoo Global, Doug Myers welcomed the assembled guests and gave an update on the construction of the Africa Rocks exhibit at the Zoo. Progress has been hampered by the unusually rainy winter and spring. The dedication is still scheduled for mid-June, 2017. The Guest Speaker for the evening was Dr. Andrea Fidgett, Director of Nutritional Services at San Diego Zoo Global. Dr. Fidgett recently joined the team at the San Diego Zoo and Safari Park from the Chester Zoo in England. Scottish by nationality, her humorous and informative account of the activities in the Nutrition Department provided an amazing insight into what is involved in feeding 8,000 mouths of 847 different species of animals on a daily basis.
