On March 15, 2013 Barbara J. Menard was given a behind the scenes tour of the John Lo Schiavo, SJ Center for Science and Innovation. Nestled in the heart of the University of San Francisco’s urban campus, the Center is scheduled to open by the Fall of 2013. Director Menard donned a hard hat and viewed several floors including the student interaction area on the third floor that was funded by the Menard Family Foundation. The 57,000–gross-square foot  project will create a gathering space for the entire campus community while further increasing USF’s impact on the local technology sector. The Center will be the only facility of its kind in the Bay Area, LEED Gold certified and fully devoted to interdisciplinary undergraduate education.
