How is it possible that it was fifty years ago when Director Barbara Menard joined the incoming class at
the University of San Francisco in September 1966? The amazing class of 1970 celebrated the fifty years
since graduation with a virtual event on Saturday and Sunday, October 24th and 25th , 2020. The cohosts for the event, Kevin Leong and Moira Gunn wove together memories, history and humorous
recollections. USF President Rev. Paul Fitzgerald, SJ addressed the class and shared current updates on
how USF has responded to the pandemic and construction projects on campus. A virtual tour of the
campus was presented by historian ???. On Sunday, the 10 a.m. Eucharist at St. Ignatius Church was
celebrated for the Class of 1970 and included readers from the class. In the afternoon there were Zoom
groups from the dorms and organizations on campus. A scholarship has been established at USF
sponsored by the Class of 1970 and there is hope that there will be an in-person gathering when the
COVID-19 restrictions are lifted.
